Meet Lyrik
Lyrik is a southern girl with a sultry sound like no other. Her unique tone and approach to the world of R&B is unparalleled. This Louisiana Native has embodied the true essence of singing since her first opportunity to sing, at the tender age of one year old.
She credits her sound and style to the exposure of the old school classics she grew to love during her childhood; Aretha Franklin, various Motown artists, and the late Whitney Houston. Later to embrace the Neo-Soul genre and look to artists like Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and recent artist Jaszmine Sullivan. Throughout her journey as a vocal artist, Lyrik has embraced her percussive talents. As a result, she acquired membership into Mu Phi Sigma National Percussion Fraternity, Inc. becoming the National Secretary of the General Council as well as the National Director of the organization's auxiliary program for young aspiring musicians (MPYS), she has served as a percussion instructor for the oldest HBCU; Bowie State University Symphony of Soul Marching Band "Perfect Storm" Drum line, as well as the Bowie High School Marching Band Percussion Instructor and founder of the "Dawg Pound". In addition, Lyrik never ceased to upkeep her craft as a percussionist and has played for six consecutive seasons with the former NFL Washington Redskins Marching Band Drum line also known as; The Drums of Washington & Stickintogether. Aside from her musical talents, she has been an educator since 2008, now operating as a high school Assistant Principal. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and English from University of California Los Angeles and Louisiana State University. Lyrik also holds a Master's Degree in Special Education and a Doctoral ABD in Organizational Leadership.
